Heart Research Day 14 February

As part of Heart Kids Awareness Month, 14th of February is also Heart Research Awareness Day! For those of you that noticed, yes, it's also (very appropriately) on Valentine's day.

Cardiovasular disease is the leading cause of death in Australia, killing one person every 12 minutes (Heartfoundation.org.au)! Nutrition and lifestyle are such massive factors that influence this disease - and being in a healthy weight range is key. There are little changes you can make everyday to reduce weight to be within the healthy range including: eat a varied diet with lots of colourful fruit and vegetables; choose wholegrain breads and cereals; limiting high saturated fat and sugary items (make them occassional foods); using better quality fats when cooking and removing all visible fat/skin off meats before cooking them.
