This week is Australia's Healthy Weight Week. This is a Dietitians Assoication of Australia (DAA) initiative reminding Australians of the benefits of maintaining a healthy weight (http://healthyweightweek.com.au/).
Food is so important to achieve a healthy weight and the above website has a bunch of helpful information to get people started on a healthy food journey. I particularly like the section about steering clear of fad diets. When I tell people what I do I'm usually expected to give an opinion about new diet crazes sweeping the nation. As I always say, DON'T start a diet that has an end date and as with anything in life, if it seems too good to be true, then it probably is. I read a great instagram post the other day that said 'Lead, Uranium ad Cocaine are also gluten free (watch out for health buzz words)'. While there's a certain percentage of us medically required to consume a gluten free diet, going gluten free for 'health' reasons is in fact not healthy, as many of the 'gluten-free' packaged items are higher in fat and sugar than their regular counterparts.
