Don't make the mis-STEAK of buying too much meat at once. As Australians we buy a lot of meat - chicken being the number one meat we consume. In order to reduce the amount of meat we waste, it's important to know how long our different meats last in the fridge and freezer. If you are not planning on using the meat you buy in the next couple of days you can safely store it in the freezer for several months.
Here's a breakdown of how long your meats can be felt alone in the freezer before you make them into something delicious.
1-2 months in freezer:
Raw: bacon, sausages and fish
3-6 months in freezer:
Raw meat: minced meat and chops
Cooked: Leftovers, soups and stews
6-12 months in freezer:
Raw: steak, roasts, whole chicken
